I'm on an ever-evolving journey to, "Live Fit!" And in keeping with my mantra, I attended a barre class yesterday. Not just any barre (there's several methods out there you know), but one of the hottest trends in exercise today- PURE BARRE! It was intense, mindful, and full of feeling. A method toting techniques designed to tone, lift, and tighten in a low-impact, isometric routine (small, equal length muscle movements) and targets areas women struggle with most- abs, hips, butt, thighs, and arms. With its roots based in ballet with the great influence of Lotte Berk, I've been continually inspired by dancers like Misty Copeland who at one look makes me want to get up, move, and be better with her statuesque, long, lean muscles.
I recommend you try not just one, but at least a couple of weeks of consistent attendance (2-3 days a week) to judge for yourself. After you've tried it, let me know what you think! Tips for first-timers? Be open-minded, wear sticky socks, comfortable exercise gear, wrap your hair (you will sweat), and hydrate ahead of time. Ok, that's all- go barre.
